A teen driver in Camden County was charged with assault after he allegedly struck 6 people with his SUV
Six teen pedestrians were injured after a 16-year-old driver allegedly struck them with an SUV on Gibbsboro Road in Lindenwold.

The 16 year-old driver of an SUV that struck six teen pedestrians in Lindenwold Tuesday was charged with aggravated assault and joyriding.
The teen, who has not been identified, allegedly drove his vehicle onto a sidewalk on Gibbsboro Road, near Lindenwold High School. When police arrived around 2:10 p.m., officers found one pedestrian trapped beneath the SUV and five more people who had been struck while walking on the sidewalk.
The victims range from 14 to 16 years old, police wrote in a Tuesday statement. “Two occupants of the involved vehicle” had been detained at the scene during the initial police investigation Tuesday.
The driver will face one count of second-degree aggravated assault, six counts of third-degree aggravated assault, and one count of joyriding. He is being held at the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center.
The trapped pedestrian was transported by medical helicopter to Cooper Norcross University Hospital, and the remaining teens were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
“The investigation remains ongoing as all victims continue to recover,” Lindenwold police wrote in a statement Wednesday morning.
