A murder-suicide in Pennsauken involved a brother and sister, police say
The shooting happened at a home on Bethel Avenue, and the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said the murder-suicide led to the deaths of a brother and sister, both Pennsauken residents.
A brother and sister died Wednesday in what investigators are calling a murder-suicide at a Pennsauken home, according to the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
Pennsauken police officers responded to the home on the 4400 block of Bethel Avenue around 9 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. They found Janet Camacho, 59, on the front steps of the home with a gunshot wound. Officers were also told that a male suspect was there, armed with a handgun, according to a release by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.
Camacho was taken to Cooper University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
At about 10:37 a.m., police found Camacho’s brother, Daniel Lopez, 60, dead inside the home with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Both siblings were Pennsauken residents, but investigators did not say whether either lived at the home where the shooting occurred.
The investigation is ongoing.
