A 27-year-old Gloucester County man was in custody after he allegedly carjacked a tow truck and crashed into several vehicles while under the influence, police said Tuesday.

Dylan Davis, of Mantua, was arrested Monday afternoon after his alleged spree left three people injured, Washington Township police said.

Shortly before 1:50 p.m. Monday, a driver for Riehl’s Towing stopped along Delsea Drive near the Dollar General to load a vehicle onto his flatbed when Davis allegedly jumped into the tow truck and drove away, police said. The Riehl’s driver fell from the tow truck and suffered injuries.

Davis allegedly drove the tow truck erratically and struck two vehicles head-on in the area of Delsea Drive and Salina Road, police said. The drivers of the two other vehicles were transported to area hospitals for treatment.

Photos posted by police of the crash scene showed an SUV partially dangling off the back of the flatbed and an HVAC service van with heavy damage.

Police said Davis fled from the crash scene but was quickly located and arrested. Davis was suspected of driving under the influence and police obtained a search warrant for a blood test.

Davis was charged with first-degree carjacking, driving while intoxicated, and related offenses.

The case remains under investigation.
