NFL draft: Eagles trade seventh-round pick for Colts’ defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway

The Eagles had acquired a seventh-round pick (No. 246) from the New England Patriots earlier in the afternoon when they traded back in the fifth round, but they preferred adding Ridgeway than using it on a college player.

The Eagles traded their final draft pick to the Indianapolis Colts for defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway.

The Eagles had acquired a seventh-round pick (No. 246) from the New England Patriots earlier in the afternoon when they traded back in the fifth round, but they preferred adding Ridgeway than using it on a college player.

Ridgeway, 24, was a 2016 fourth-round pick out of Texas who has started six games in his career and has 4.5 career sacks. He played only five games last season. He’s 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds and joins an Eagles defensive tackle ground that includes Fletcher Cox, Malik Jackson, and Tim Jernigan. He’ll likely compete with Treyvon Hester for a spot at the back of the defensive tackle rotation.
