Hundreds of bones, thousands of ceramic fragments, and items belonging to long-ago members of the Lenni-Lenape Indigenous people are among the artifacts archaeologists unearthed as part of their recent dig at Croft Farm.
The dig took place around the 18th-century Kay-Evans House, part of which was open to the public in February, and archaeologists are now wrapping up their findings. Those items are helping them better understand the people who lived along the Cooper River centuries ago and how society evolved.
Some artifacts could even be on public display at the house one day as the township looks for ways to showcase its history.
