Stacy Garrity’s successful business experience could be seen as an asset and set her apart from Shapiro.
The Republican challenger worked as an executive for a supplier for aerospace and defense firms before her taking on her current role as treasurer in 2021 while Shapiro has spent the past 20 years in politics.
But if she becomes governor, she would oversee a department that regulates a for-profit insurance company where she’s an active paid board member. If a pending acquisition closes, she could make almost $200,000.
If elected, she said she’d resign.
