"The Next Big Thing" may be from Queen Village.
Vanessa Chan was a finalist this morning on the Today show's "Next Big Thing" contest with her necklace/earbuds loopit.
A materials space engineer and former consultant, Chan invented loopit because she found her earbuds were always getting tangled up in her pocketbook. After some research into why knots knot, she designed magnetic clasps that eliminate the knotty problem. As she told Daily News columnist Michael Hinkelman in February, "One set is built in near the earbuds and the other set is built in near the audio jack. There's also a built-in microphone so users can answer calls while on the go. Loopit can be worn by women as a stylish necklace or used by men as a black leather-like cord that can be stuffed in a pocket."
