Seth Rogen is on board to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. Danny Boyle will direct from Aaron Sorkin's script, based on Walter Isaacson's biography.
Scott Rudin, Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady are producing.
Universal picked up "Jobs" out of turnaround last month after Sony let it go.
Waterston portrayed a key role as Shasta Fay Hepworth in Paul Thomas Anderson's "Inherent Vice." She is repped by UTA and Silver Lining Entertainment.
