Philly gets a cameo on 'Hairspray Live' telecast
Twitter on Wednesday night was all over NBC's live production of Hairspray, the live rendition of the 2007 film based on the 2004 musical based on the 1988 John Waters parody.
Hairspray Live brought the '60s to life again
The Kimmel Center, along with many venues across the country, celebrated the live musical with a watch party and dance-a-thon. At one point the live broadcast cut to NBC10's Keith Jones, who was hosting the soiree.
Ratings for Hairspray Live were relatively low, on par with the poorly reviewed Peter Pan, despite castmembers like Jennifer Hudson and Ariana Grande getting high remarks from both critics. During the broadcast, NBC announced that its next live musical will be Bye Bye Birdie.
