Eva Longoria's political org backs Diaz for mayor

The national group, co-founded by actress Eva Longoria, endorsed Nelson Diaz in the mayoral race.

Could Desperate Housewives star, Eva Longoria come to Philly to stump for Nelson Diaz' campaign?

That remains to be seen. But the actress' Latino Victory Fund has added Diaz to a small list of candidates the national group is endorsing this year. Longoria co-founded the group with Henry R. Muñoz III, finance chair for the Democratic National Committee, to get more Latino candidates elected to offices nationwide.

The fund also endorsed Jesus "Chuy" Garcia, who is taking on incumbent Mayor Rahm Emanuel in Chicago and a city council candidate in Seattle, Lorena González.

Diaz' campaign manager Ian Rivera said he's speaking with the group this week to find out what to expect. "Having support of a national group that's coming to back him is a testament to Nelson and the ideas he has for the city," Rivera said.
