Bruce Springsteen autobiography 'Born To Run' coming in September

Memoir has been in the works for seven years.

Bruce Springsteen has written a memoir called - what else? - Born To Run that will be published by Simon & Schuster on September 27.

The New York Post reports The Boss got an advance of over $10 million for the book, which he apparently has been working on for seven years. So I suppose that's why he's been too busy to release any new music, and his current tour, which plays a sold out Wells Fargo Center on Friday is behind the The Ties That Bind: The River Collection box set of 35 year old songs that came out in December.

"Writing about yourself is a funny business," Springsteen wrote on his website, announcing the book.  "But in a project like this, the writer has made one promise, to show the reader his mind. In these pages, I've tried to do this."

The book's title, by the way, might cause some confusion among librarians: It's also the title of Springsteen biographer Dave Marsh's Born To Run: The Bruce Springsteen Story, which was originally published back in 1979.

My recollection of seeing Springsteen on the original River tour is here. A clip of "The River" from the No Nukes movie is below.
