Saturday started as a soggy, cloudy day, but by the time the gates to the 3rd Annual King of Prussia Beerfest Royale opened the sun was out and festival goers were in high spirits and ready to enjoy over 100 samplings of brews.

It was a day full of music, mingling and food from local area restaurants. The Beerfest Royale is presented by the King of Prussia District (KOP-BID), which works to improve the economic environment in the town by making more vibrant, attractive and prosperous. Saturday's event consisted of two three and a half hour sessions for $35, and $55. Each guest was given a 5 oz. mug to sample the beers, which included selections from Angry Orchard, Brooklyn Brewery, Flying Fish and Yards to name a few.

California Pizza Kitchen, Tony Luke's, and Maggiano's were offering up delicious fare to guests. Celebrity judges chose the best of beers, both international and craft, as well as the best dish served at the event. The judges were: Neal Santos, Caroline Russock (Phila City Paper), Christine Tarlecki (Philly2Philly.com), and Donnie Black (95.7 BEN-FM Morning Show Producer). Chris Murphy of Fox 29 Philly was the final judge and taste tested the other judges choices and then crowned the winners. He chose Conshohocken Brewing Company for "Best Craft Beer" with it's Chocolate Crush Imperial Porter and "Best International Beer" went to Kronenbourg 1664. The best dish of the day was Maggiano's brisket.
