The Eagles released cornerback Roc Carmichael on Tuesday. Carmichael signed with the Eagles on Nov. 18, although he was inactive during his three-game stint with the team. There was no corresponding move, and the Eagles' roster will remain at 52 players for the time being.

Carmichael practiced with the Eagles on Tuesday. He spent 13 games with the Eagles last season, as well all of the offseason and preseason with the team.

"We just needed another DB in here, and we liked Roc," coach Chip Kelly said on Nov. 19. "We obviously couldn't keep him there when we made the cut down to 53, but had him in last Friday and worked him out. Felt like he was in good shape. He’s got a real good understanding of what we're doing.  He's got versatility. He's a corner; he's a nickel; he can be a dime. He's also a really good special teams player."
