Aqua Vida moves indoors to the pool at Drexel Recreation Center
During these bitter winter months, we're longing for the days of sweaty summer workouts. Luckily, the ladies of Aqua Vida are here to ease our seasonal depression.
In 2014, Jana Mars and Daphne Murphy launched their standup paddleboard yoga series in Philadelphia. I tried one of their SUP yoga classes on the Schuylkill River (and highly recommend it!) — but this week, the duo announced that they're brining the class inside to Drexel Recreation Center's pool so that you can keep your practice going even in the cold.
Kicking off on Saturday. February 6, the 60-minute SUP yoga practice is led by Murphy, who trained at the Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica. This class is designed to create a supportive environment for students of all levels.
If you're looking to up the ante, try their brand new "Aqua Warriors SUP Fitness" class, which is designed for maximum calorie burn in the shortest amount of time. According to Mars, this class is a combination of strength, cardio, muscle endurance, flexibility, core, and functional movement patterns.
Want to get in on the action? SUP Yoga classes will be held on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 10 a.m., while the SUP Fitness class will take place on Sundays at 11 a.m. Classes will run you $45, which includes all the equipment needed. (For Drexel Recreation members, classes are $30.)
