Kenny Poon - whose restaurant holdings include Ken Shin Asian Diner in Northern Liberties and Tea-Do in Chinatown - is behind Kai, a snug Japanese spot at 12 S. 10th St., filling in for the former Bumblefish and Tea Talk.

Interior is a forest of blond wood, and includes a seven-seat sushi bar.

For such a small space, the menu is enormous, with requisite rolls augmented by cooked dishes including teriyaki, don, udon, and tempura. Lunch sushi deals ($10) are a steal.

It's open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, 4 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
