Pro-cannabis activist NA Poe is gearing up for the return of the now-infamous Smoke Down Prohibition marijuana legalization rally on Friday, and this time he's got a little help from Whitney Houston.
Err, make that "Weedney Houston," actually.
To help get the word out about Friday's Smoke Down 2.0 rally, Poe and company put together "The Greatest Herb of All," a pot-laced parody of Whitney Houston's "The Greatest Love of All" with Weedney (aka Carl Max) in the spotlight. And the result, as you can see, is as inspiring as it is bizarre.
Featuring vocals by Cantwell, lyrics by The Panic Hour's Steve Miller-Miller, and Weedney Houston's fantastic lip-synching abilities, "The Greatest Herb of All" takes us through the streets of Philadelphia as our heroes publicly smoke cannabis and spread their marijuana legalization message.
But with Friday's rally fast approaching, they're going to need your help if organizer NA Poe's goals are to be met.
"We may live a long way from Harrisburg," Poe says of Smoke Down 2.0, "but I promise you that we will do our best to create a cloud of smoke on Friday that they can see from the capitol."
To that end, Smoke Down will begin at 4 p.m. at LOVE Park, followed by a march through Center City beginning at 5 p.m. After that, attendees can head over to the One Art Community Center for an after-party featuring DJ Freedom, DJ Kwestion, and The Low Temp Reggae All-Stars. Ultimately, Poe hopes that the event will help pass a medical cannabis bill here in Pennsylvania.
And, no — you don't need to smoke to help out with the cause.
"If you support cannabis legalization and don't want to smoke, come on out anyway," Poe says. "We need your support — and all you are risking is a contact high."
