Software and IT company SunGard Data Systems Inc. said its Florida-based Public Sector business unit has acquired Performance Pathways Inc., which provides instructional management software for K-12 school districts.

No terms were disclosed. Both companies are privately held.

Sungard, based in Wayne, said the transaction should have a material impact on its financial results.

SunGard said that its Public Sector unit, which the Mechanicsburg-based Performance Pathways will join, already offers related software.

SunGard, which has annual revenue exceeding $5 billion, will retain the approximately 50 Performance Pathways employees, Public Sector spokesman Matt Springer said.
