Teachers' union halts anti-Nutter ads

PFT President Jerry Jordan will have a private meeting with the mayor this week.

THE PHILADELPHIA Federation of Teachers yesterday suspended its TV and radio ads critical of Mayor Nutter, saying its president, Jerry Jordan, would have a private meeting with the mayor this week.

Sometime before noon, the union suspended the ads, which claim that Nutter and Gov. Corbett have failed city students, PFT spokesman George Jackson said. Not all ads were removed due to a miscommunication with one station, but they are expected to be gone by this morning.

Jackson refused to say when the meeting would take place.

"We thought pulling them for now would create a better atmosphere for a more constructive, solution-driven dialogue between the two," Jackson said. "We're going silent on it for right now."
