Someday she may occupy the White House as first daughter - and perhaps as a future prez - so it's good to hear that

Bristol Palin

is preparing for the rigors of public life - by starring in a TV show.

ABC Family said yesterday that Bristol, daughter of possible future presidential hopeful Sarah Palin, will make her acting debut in The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Bristol must master a challenging role - herself - in an episode about the consequences of teen pregnancy. The episode will be filmed over the summer.

Bristol, 19, who has a 13-month-old son, Tripp, with unemployed high school dropout and Playgirl hunk Levi Johnston, recently pledged to forgo sex until marriage.

It's 4 Pattinson, Stewart

"We are together, yes." Yes! Never, in all my years of servitude to the gossip gods, have I seen sweeter words.

That's heartthrob Robert Pattinson, 23, telling Brit tabloid The Sun that he and Twilight costar Kristen Stewart, 19, are, indeed, lovers. (We trust The Sun, no?)

"It is extremely difficult" to maintain the relationship, Rob says. "We can't arrive at the same time because of the fans." Been there, dude. It ain't easy.

The news puts to rest decades of intense metaphysical speculation going back to before either actor was born.

Charlie Sheen to rehab

Charlie Sheen

, whose wife,

Brooke Mueller

, has been in rehab since Feb. 8, yesterday announced that he also has checked into a rehab facility "as a preventative measure," his rep,

Stan Rosenfield

, said in a statement. (Rehab as a prophylactic measure? That's a new one.)

"He will take some time off his series Two and a Half Men. He has asked that his privacy be honored," Rosenfield said.

Is Sheen staying at his wife's rehab? No word.

On Sunday, Mueller left the Canyon treatment center in Malibu, Calif., for another program, alleging that Canyon leaked information about her to the media. Her lawyer, Yale Galanter, tells TMZ that Mueller plans to sue Canyon.

Tiger who?

In a shocking admission, the

Dalai Lama

tells the Associated Press that he has never heard of

Tiger Woods

. More shocking, perhaps, is that the AP actually asked the Buddhist spiritual leader to weigh in on the pro golfer's extramarital activities.

Tiger, who plans to apologize to every single human being on the planet about his recently uncovered sins, has vowed to return to some of the Buddhist teachings of his youth.

The Dalai Lama did note that most religions frown upon adultery.

"Whether you call it Buddhism or another religion, self-discipline, that's important," he said. "Self-discipline with awareness of consequences."
