COWABUNGA! "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" was the No. 1 movie in the nation this weekend with $65 million at the box office.

Marvel Studios' "Guardians of the Galaxy" slid into second place in its second weekend with $41.5 million, bringing its total domestic haul to $175.9 million. The total worldwide box office for the cosmic romp stands at $313.2 million.

Megan Colligan, Paramount's head of domestic marketing and distribution, said that the success of the "Turtles" reboot was mostly derived from a pair of distinctly different audiences: men who fondly remembered the 1980s and '90s franchise that spawned a cartoon series, toy line and a live-action film trilogy, and youngsters familiar with a newer Nickelodeon animated TV series.

"It's odd when you have 25- to 35-year-olds and then 7- to 12-year-olds really excited about the same film," Colligan said.

Both odd and a little creepy.

Books jump the shark

Kim Kardashian

is publishing a book of selfies.

That in itself isn't the craziest idea, because the selfie may be the new window on the soulless soul. (Not to mention a way to break into porn or scuttle a political campaign.)

But Kim K's book will feature only selfies of . . . herself.

More than 1,000 of them over 352 pages.

The working title: "Selfish."

The Mutant Ninja Turtles are also working on a book of selfies. The working title "Shellfish."

Better luck next time

Former "Saturday Night Live" cast member

Victoria Jackson

has lost her bid as an independent candidate for a seat on a county commission in Tennessee.

Jackson, who calls herself a tea-party conservative, moved to Thompson's Station last year and said she filed as an independent to run for the Williamson County Commission because she's "very disappointed with the Republican Party."

* Former TV judge Joe Brown has lost his bid to become the district attorney for the Tennessee county that includes Memphis.

Brown, a Democrat, lost handily to incumbent Republican Amy Weirich.

He was a criminal court judge in Memphis before stepping down in 2000 to dedicate himself to his former TV show.

* The Russian news agency RIA Novosti says that

Steven Seaga

l has performed at a concert in the breakaway region of Crimea on a stage decorated with the flag of pro-Russian separatists fighting in eastern Ukraine.

Seagal, who knows Russian President Vladimir Putin, performed Saturday night in the Black Sea port city of Sevastopol at a concert organized by a motorcycle gang of Russian nationalists known as the Night Wolves. Russia annexed the Ukrainian region in March.

Seagal was then handed a shirt with Putin's face on it, which he held aloft as he thanked the crowd.

So when Steven Seagal "performs" at a concert, what does he actually do?

* Afghani actor Fahim Fazli says that being a translator with the U.S. Marines in Afghanistan was his way of giving back to his adopted country.

Fazli had roles in "Iron Man" and "Argo," and was an adviser on "Charlie Wilson's War." But he left acting for two years to work for the Marines.

He says it was important for the Marines and Afghanis to understand each other. If they didn't, he says, "They're going to kill each other."

Now he's written a book, with New Hampshire professor Mike Moffett, called "Fahim Speaks: A Warrior-Actor's Odyssey from Afghanistan to Hollywood and Back." They hope it will become a movie.

(Probably someone like Matt Damon will play Fahim.)

* The adventures of sisters Anna and Elsa, of "Frozen" fame, will continue, at least on paper.

Random House Children's Books announced Friday that they will launch a new series next year by author Erica David tied to the blockbuster Disney movie. The first two books, "Anna & Elsa #1: All Hail the Queen" and "Anna & Elsa #2: Memory and Magic," are scheduled for January. The planned first printing for each book is 150,000 copies.

Random House has already sold more than 8 million books related to "Frozen."

Hey, kids, as soon as we figure out how to get Anna and Elsa in the Daily News every day, we'll let you know.

* From "Let it Go" to "Let it Be."

According to thedailybeast.com, so many Beatles fans continue to make the pilgrimage to cross Abbey Road, the street may get a crossing guard.

Woody Allen has added his handprints to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

In Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Allen is in nearby Providence filming a new movie that stars Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix.

Local officials say they worked with Allen's crew as he filmed at a newsstand and elsewhere, and the director agreed to add his handprints to Pawtucket's so-called "Hollywood Walk of Fame."

Pawtucket's "Walk" is outside a city diner and includes handprints from Dustin Hoffman and others from the movie "American Buffalo," which was filmed there in 1995.

Local officials are still hoping that Phoenix and Stone will add their handprints.

Curiously, Allen's handprints are not on the actual Hollywood Walk of Fame. More curiously, neither are Hoffman's.
