The Delaware County man wanted in a shooting that left one man dead last week and an 82-year-old woman still fighting for her life was apprehended Tuesday morning, officials said.
Naim T. Williams, 18, of Chester, was picked up by U.S. Marshals and Delaware State Police after 6 a.m., according to police, who have not yet disclosed where officials found him.
A warrant was issued for Williams after Thursday's shooting, charging him with murder, aggravated assault and illegally carrying a weapon as a convict.
Williams allegedly shot Demetrius Jones in broad daylight while he was walking in the area of 21st and Crozer Streets. Jones died at Crozer-Chester Medical Center about 8 1/2 hours later, police said.
According to the court affidavit, Williams' mother told police her son had said that Jones had "pulled a gun on him, so he ducked and shot at him."
Edith Hardy, who was watching television inside her house in the 100 block of West 22d Street, was struck in the neck when a stray bullet came through a window. She remains in critical condition in a medically induced coma at Crozer-Chester, officials said.
