The victim was identified Thursday as Kevin Maldonado, who attended North Philadelphia's Edison-Fareira High School. In his Facebook page, he called himself "Kevin Rican Maldonado."

The car, which had been reported stolen from Lansdowne, was found abandoned two blocks away after the victim was struck about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday on the 3900 block of Old York Road, police said.

The man was getting into a car on the right side of the road when he was hit and tossed into the air before hitting a Chrysler Town & Country and landing in the roadway, police said.

He was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:28 p.m., police said.

Witnesses told police they saw driver of the stolen white Prius fleeing on foot after abandoning the car.
