Boy, 3, shot in Grays Ferry

Police are investigating after a 3-year-old boy was shot in the leg in Grays Ferry.

The child suffered a gunshot wound to his right thigh in the Monday incident on the 1300 block of South Newkirk Street, police said.

The boy was taken to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in stable condition, police said.

A 43-year-old man was also shot in his right leg, police said, and taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was also listed in stable condition.

It wasn't clear what sparked the incident.

Officers are continuing to investigate, and further details about the circumstances of the shooting weren't immediately known.
