A report of an auto accident ended in a homicide investigation early Sunday, as a man was found shot dead behind the wheel of a minivan in the Hunting Park section of North Philadelphia.

Officers were dispatched shortly after 3 a.m. to the 3700 block of Delhi Street, where a dark blue Ford Windstar had struck three parked vehicles.

They discovered the van's driver had been shot in the chest, police said.

Medics pronounced the victim, identified by police as Bernard Ray, 39, of Southwest Philadelphia, dead at the scene about 10 minutes later.

There wasn't immediately word on a motive, and police reported no arrest.

As with all homicides in Philadelphia, the city posted a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Philadelphia police.
