Powerball gets much more powerful

Three of the four biggest jackpots around have kept getting bigger, with Powerball the biggest of all, now up to $170 million.

Three of the four biggest jackpots around have kept getting bigger, with Powerball the biggest of all, now up to $170 million.

Only Mega Millions, played in Jersey, rebooted, as two tickets split Friday's $38 million top prize.

The winners were sold in Virginia and California.

As a result, that multistate lottery's payout will be $12 million tomorrow.

Jersey's Pick Six is a much better deal tonight: $19.2 million that's about a dozen times easier to win.

Tomorrow's Super 7 in Pennsylvania has $7.3 million up for grabs.

All of the above figures are for annuities - 30 yearly payouts in Pennsylvania, 26 in Jersey.

Powerball - played in 30 states, including Pennsylvania and Delaware - has seen its jackpot steadily grow since April 8.

The numbers drawn Saturday night were 6, 7, 31, 40 and 56, with a Powerball of 38.

In Mega Millions, three New Jersey tickets (and 31 in other states) won $250,000 by having all of Friday's numbers - 7, 12, 24, 36 and 48 - but not the Mega Ball of 27.

Powerball is still waiting for someone to claim half of a $174.4 million jackpot won on Feb. 28 by a ticket purchased at Plymouth Meeting Mall.
