Investigators have questioned a psychiatric patient in the death of his roommate Wednesday night at a West Philadelphia facility.

The victim, a 23-year-old male at Belmont Behavioral Health, appeared to have been strangled, police said. He was pronounced dead at 11:27 p.m. at Hahnemann University Hospital.

"Our thoughts are with the victim's family at this time and we offer our deepest sympathy, said Belmont spokesman Damien Woods.

Woods said the facility was "actively cooperating with the police but could not provide details while the investingation was under way.

No charges have been filed while police await autopsy results.
