Severed leg found on Delaware River waterfront
A woman walking her dog along the Delaware River in Gloucester County found a human leg on the shore Sunday, officials reported.
The woman was in the borough of National Park when she found the dismembered leg severed at the knee, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office reported. There were no clothes or marks on the leg, and no other body parts were found, according to the prosecutor's office. Authorities described it as "the lower part" of the limb, "with the foot attached."
The Gloucester County Medical Examiner's Office will sample DNA from the leg in an effort to make an identification, a process that could take several weeks. An investigation is being conducted by the West Deptford Police Department and the prosecutor's office.
