On the market: A three-bedroom Cape Cod in Delaware County for $399,500
The house in Springfield "was very quaint, and it needed work, but we saw a lot of potential,” the owner says.
Whether it’s feeling safe running through the area at night, walking to the library, or enjoying the local eateries, Edyta and Patrick Davitt have enjoyed their three years in the house in Springfield, Delaware County.
But the prospect of more acreage, similar to what they had when they came from Connecticut in 2018, has won out, and they and their two daughters will be moving elsewhere in the area.
Edyta, an interior designer, and Patrick, a professor of nutrition at the University of the Sciences, have done considerable work on their current three bedroom, 1½ bath house. They redid the kitchen and added closets and a living room in the back. The house is 1,945 square feet.
“It was very quaint, and it needed work, but we saw a lot of potential,” Edyta says. “And we love the community.”
The living room could also be used as a home office or playroom. And the expanded kitchen has white Shaker-style cabinets, quartzite countertops, a tile backsplash, a built-in microwave drawer, double ovens, and a gas range with vent hood.
The family room addition is open to the kitchen with a wine fridge and a large seating area with three large windows overlooking the backyard.
The first floor bedroom has barn doors leading to a large walk-in closet with organizers.
Upstairs are two additional bedrooms with finished oak floors and a full updated hall bath.
The basement has a finished den/playroom and utility and workspace area with a large cedar closet and an additional closet.
Upgrades include new HVAC and roofing and new windows on the second floor.
There is also a detached garage.
The area has plentiful shopping, public transportation and community events.
The house is listed by Carrie Piccard of D. Patrick Welsh Real Estate for $399,500.
