Camden is known as a food desert, with no full-service grocery stores of its own. A pastor there is giving free rides to residents to shop for healthy food in Cherry Hill.
And ICE has awarded more than $17 million in contracts in the Philadelphia area, including Burlington County, since the start of President Donald Trump’s second term.
Plus, Gov. Mikie Sherrill signed a law to protect reproductive and gender-affirming healthcare, and more news of the day.

Camden has not had a full-service grocery store since 2013, leaving residents who don’t have their own vehicles or access to public transportation to shop at corner stores or bodegas.
🛒 But in the last few weeks, some have been getting free door-to-door rides to the Ravitz ShopRite in Cherry Hill and other local stores, courtesy of Pastor Amir Khan and his faith-based nonprofit, New Beginnings Behavioral Health.
🛒 “We want to be a convenience,” Khan said. “Anything we can do to get people to eat healthier.”
🛒 The van program is funded by Food Equity and Economic Development in New Jersey, or FEED NJ, a state pilot that aims to connect those in food deserts to fresh, affordable food options.
A new database shows where U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is inking contracts around the Philly area, including a gun shop in Vincentown.
George J. Petronis Enterprises Inc. was awarded two contracts worth $505,415 for training ammunition and ink cartridges, according to the data published by The Appeal.
These contracts and others in the region are part of a sharp nationwide increase in spending on firearms during President Trump’s second term.
