After 69 years, Medford’s Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge has its first veterinarian on staff to look after the thousands of animals that arrive for care.
And the family of an immigrant from El Salvador who died at the Delaney Hall ICE facility in Newark outlined a list of demands — including a call to close the detention center.
Plus, New Jersey’s attorney general is suing Amazon over its delivery driver network, and more news of the day.

Meet Amanda Cameron, Cedar Run’s first staff veterinarian in its nearly 70-year history as a wildlife refuge in Medford.
Roughly 8,000 annual birds, raccoons, rabbits, turtles, and other types of animals come though Cedar Run for care each year.
Cameron has a relatively rare job as one of the few full-time wildlife vets in the tristate area. Cedar Run’s executive director doesn’t know of any other wildlife refuge with a vet on staff.
With only two weeks on the job, she’s doesn’t have the complete operational space yet to conduct exams and procedures, but she’s been able to start on a few cases. So far, she’s received a warm welcome, especially from the refuge’s rehabbers who are eager to learn from her and potentially save more animals.
The Inquirer’s Sarah Nicell explains what it took for Cedar Run to finally get a vet.
Edwin Jeovanny López Cornejo, an immigrant from El Salvador, died on Saturday at the Delaney Hall ICE facility in Newark after having a medical episode. The facility has been the subject of national attention as the site of ongoing protests, political fights, and complaints of poor conditions.
According to his family, he had been living in the U.S. for two decades before he was detained on June 18. They accuse ICE of neglecting to provide proper medical care.
Danilo Lopez, the brother of López Cornejo, put forth a list of demands in a Tuesday news conference which include:
An independent investigation of the incident conducted by New Jersey Attorney General Jennifer Davenport.
A release of his brother’s medical records from ICE and the facility’s owner, GEO Group.
The closure of the center and the release of all those detained.

AG Davenport filed the state’s fourth open lawsuit against Amazon, claiming the company is creating poor working conditions for less pay through its “anticompetitive” delivery driver network. The complaint alleges violation of federal and state antitrust laws.
Kepple’s Carpet Inc., a family-owned flooring company in West Berlin, has filed for bankruptcy.
Gov. Mikie Sherrill recently signed a bill into law to designate June 10 as Christina Grimmie Day to honor the late singer originally from Marlton. This year was the 10th anniversary of her death after she was fatally shot by a stalker while signing autographs after a concert. In her memory, her family established the Christina Grimmie Foundation in support other families of gun violence victims, according to the Courier-Post.
Restaurant owners Bharat Bist and Gigi Giri — who operate Mount Masala in Voorhees — plan to open a Himalayan eatery at the South Philadelphia location of Gabriella’s Vietnam after the latter closes in mid-December.
Eustace Mita, the developer whose proposal to build a luxury hotel at the site of the closed Gillian’s Wonderland Pier in Ocean City has drawn critics, is building a home so large it will become the biggest in Avalon.
