Police make another arrest in South Philly mass shooting that killed 3, wounded 10 others
Zaki Harrell, 18, is the sixth person arrested in connection with the deadly mayhem that erupted on July 7, 2025, on the 1500 block of Etting Street.

Police said Thursday that a sixth person has been arrested in connection with a mass shooting in South Philadelphia last summer that left three people dead and 10 others wounded.
Zaki Harrell, 18, was arrested by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Homicide Fugitive Squad without incident at a residence on the 2200 block of South Beechwood Street, police said.
Harrell faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, and various firearms violations, police said.
A 24-year-old man surrendered to police last week for the July 7 shooting on the 1500 block of Etting Street. Four other people also have been charged in the case.
Hundreds of people were on the block for a party when investigators said a loud “pop” sound — possibly a car backfiring — scared partygoers.
At least 15 people then began firing guns aimlessly down the block, and in some cases shot their own friends, police said.
Three men were killed, including Zahir Wylie, 23, and Jason Reese, 19. Azir Harris, 27, who used a wheelchair after being paralyzed in an earlier shooting, was fatally shot as he sought cover between two cars.
A fourth person — a 19-year-old who was shot but survived — died in March, law enforcement sources said, but the medical examiner’s office has not yet determined the cause of his death.
