Eagles’ Mike Wallace says fibula has healed, now he needs to strengthen right leg
Mike Wallace should come off injury reserve before the end of the year.
Eagles wide receiver Mike Wallace said Wednesday that his broken right fibula is healed, and that he is rebuilding strength in his leg, hoping to play again this season. But Wallace wouldn’t put a timetable on his return.
“I think I’m doing really, really well. I’m running and stuff,” said Wallace, who went down in the Week 2 loss at Tampa, and went on injured reserve. “Get that strength back, that muscle memory back.”
The Eagles have missed the speed element Wallace was signed to provide. The team has one slot remaining to bring a player back from IR. It seems likely to go to Wallace.
Wallace said his surgeon examined him Monday and said he was “right on schedule. I don’t know what the schedule is, but I’m right on it.”
Wallace said it was “a 12-week injury,” and he is nearly 12 weeks in, but “obviously I’m not myself” on the field. He said he needs to work on “getting in and out of breaks, things like that.”
“I can run pretty fast. I can beat all of y’all, that’s for sure,” he said.
