As federal workers begin returning to work — at least temporarily — some restaurateurs will continue to offer free meals as a way of easing the sting of missed paychecks.

Among the deals still available:

Brigantessa (1520 E. Passyunk Ave.) offers a free margherita or marinara pizza and half-price domestic craft tap beers (the first beer is free) from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. A three-course deal (antipasto, pizza or pasta, dessert) is $15.

Mike’s BBQ in South Philadelphia will offer free smoked chicken salad sandwiches for federal workers and their families with ID through Sunday, Jan. 27. Although Mike’s has stopped its program by which guests can prepurchase food, it is allowing federal workers with ID to use the gift certificates.

Misconduct Tavern’s locations (1511 Locust St. and 1801 JFK Blvd.) are offering free meals (eat-in only) to furloughed federal workers from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28 and Tuesday, Jan. 29. Valid ID is required.

Ardiente in Old City has introduced lobster pho, and federal employees affected by the shutdown will receive a complimentary bowl ($22) through the next pay period, ending Feb. 8.

Giuseppe & Sons at 1523 Sansom St. is offering a choice of sandwich, with ID, from 2 to 5 p.m. weekdays through next Friday, Feb. 1.
