Jefferson sent to Utah. Minnesota sent forward Al Jefferson to the Jazz for two future first-round draft picks and a salary-cap trade exception.

Jefferson averaged 17.1 points and 9.3 rebounds last season in his first year back from a major knee injury.

He came to the Timberwolves in 2007 in the blockbuster deal that sent Kevin Garnett to Boston. He averaged 23.1 points and 11 rebounds in the 50 games before he was injured in 2009.

Bobcats-Mavs swap. Charlotte sent centers Tyson Chandler and Alexis Ajinca to Dallas for center Erick Dampier, forward Eduardo Najera, shooting guard Matt Carroll and cash.

The Bobcats had been considering a deal that would've sent the 7-1 Chandler and Boris Diaw to Toronto for Jose Calderon and Reggie Evans, but the deal dissolved.

The Mavericks also signed first-round draft pick Dominique Jones from South Florida, whose rights they bought from Memphis on draft day, and free-agent center Ian Mahinmi.

Nets get Morrow. New Jersey acquired guard Anthony Morrow in a sign-and-trade deal with Golden State a day after the Nets gave Morrow an offer sheet on a three-year, $12 million contract. The Warriors will get the Nets' second-round pick in 2011.

Noteworthy. New Orleans and general manager Jeff Bower "mutually agreed" to part ways immediately. Bower was the Hornets GM since 2005. . . . Houston reached agreement with first-round draft pick Patrick Patterson, a 6-9 forward from Kentucky. . . .
