A Cherry Hill man has died in a predawn crash on the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, authorities said.
Ethan Knorr, 20, allegedly sped past warning signals as he tried to cross the drawbridge during an opening at approximately 3:20 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, according to an account from bridge police.
His eastbound car “drove through a pair of closed traffic gates equipped with visual and audible warning signals (and) around a marked police car,” the account said.
The vehicle struck a descending portion of the bridge, killing Knorr instantly.
“No other individuals or vehicles were involved in the crash,” police said.
The bridge reopened to traffic after an inspection found no structural damage. This accident is under investigation.
