The right choice for this Taylor Swift fan? Rooting for the Eagles.

The Tay-Trav show has been a little much for many people. So let the Eagles win this Super Bowl — it’s what the people want.

As a Taylor Swift fan and a lifelong Eagles fan, I believe the only good and ethical position for Super Bowl LIX is to root for an Eagles win over the Kansas City Chiefs. Here’s why:

Taylor and Travis already had their Super Bowl moment

Swift and Travis Kelce had their magical, peak-of-the-world moment last year when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl. It was a glorious celebration of love and victory, immortalized in “The Alchemy.”

It was rare, I was there, and I remember it all too well (OK, technically, we were all there — it was just last year). We know and love their love, and that moment is beautifully theirs forever.

Taylor’s roots are with the Eagles

Let’s not forget Swift was an Eagles fan first. Her iconic line, “With your Eagles T-shirt hanging on the door,” made “Gold Rush” the hauntingly beautiful song it is.

While I understand it’s easy to cheer for your partner’s team, Swift has always celebrated staying true to her roots — specifically, Reading, “just outside of Philadelphia.”

Supporting the Eagles honors where she came from.

True love is tested in tough times

As a fan of Swift’s music (and her life and love story), I know she and Kelce can thrive through wins together. But as a friend from afar, I want to see their relationship prove its strength through the challenges.

It’s easy to sparkle together when you’re both on top of the world, but Swift’s music reminds us how often past partners couldn’t handle her shine when they weren’t shining just as brightly. Kelce has been a great guy — supportive and steady — but if he can’t weather a big loss, that’s a red flag.

A relationship that can endure losses alongside wins is built to last.

Loss inspires great art

While a song about both partners being unstoppable is nice, let’s be real — a song about navigating heartbreak and loss together? That’s the stuff of timeless storytelling.

A Travis-and-Taylor anthem about sticking together after adversity? Heart hands 🫶.

Let America breathe

Be honest: America is tired of the Chiefs.

And even as a Swift fan, I know the Tay-Trav show has been a little much for many people. So let the Eagles win this Super Bowl — it’s what the people want — and Swift can dazzle us all again with whatever she has planned for TS12.

The victory (and her next album) will be even sweeter that way.

Let’s go, Birds.

Anna Wegbreit Misciagna is a Philly resident, a lifelong Eagles fan, and was one of the Swifties singing outside the Linc for the “Eras Tour” in 2023. She traveled to Warsaw, Poland, to see the “Eras Tour” this summer, her Chihuahua wears a lucky kelly green Eagles jersey for every game, and she owns a Taylor-and-Travis Christmas ornament. She is eagerly awaiting “Reputation (Taylor’s Version),” TS12, or whatever Taylor Swift creates next.
