Bergey to serve as honorary captain for Eagles
Bill Bergey will serve as the Eagles' honorary alumni captain this Sunday against the New York Jets.
There will be a tribute to the former All-Pro linebacker at halftime on the Miller Lite Flight Deck.
The Eagles parted with two first-round picks (1977, 1978) and a second rounder (1978) to acquire Bergey in a trade with the Cincinnati Bengals in 1974.
He then went on to lead the Eagles in tackles six times while registering 18 interceptions.
During his 7 years in Philadelphia, Bergey earned four Pro-Bowl bids, two All-Pro selections and was voted team MVP three times. He was inducted into the franchise's Honor Roll in 1988.
Bergey has remained in the community since his playing days and is a part of the Eagles broadcast team for the pregame and postgame shows.
