Ingram Returns
Rookie tight end Cornelius Ingram made it back for the final day of Eagles rookie camp. He acknowledged he was scared when he bruised his surgically repaired left knee in a Wednesday collision.
Cornelius Ingram was back on the field for the final day of Eagles rookie camp, wearing a black elastic sleeve on his bruised left knee but otherwise showing no ill effects from Wednesday's collision with safety Rashad Baker.
"I felt good after treatment, so I definitely wanted to go out and do something," said Ingram, a tight end who has looked like a fifth-round find in the early going. Ingram dropped in the draft because he missed last season following left ACL surgery. "The swelling went down a lot. I just wanted to come out and be with the team again ... At the beginning of practice, it was a little stiff, but once I started to sweat, we got going a lot more, it became more comfortable.
"I'll be honest, I was a little scared (to get hit in the same knee he had just finished rehabbing), but once I got up, the pain started to ease away a little bit. I went to the doctor (Thursday) morning and everything looked fine, so I'm out here today running around."
The Eagles return to NovaCare Tuesday, when full-team OTAs (otherwise known as minicamp) begin that will carry through the following week. Then the team breaks until training camp commences at Lehigh July 26.
The highlight of Friday's session probably was a leaping red zone catch by sixth-round wideout Brandon Gibson, who hauled in an A.J. Feeley offering that was overthrown in the face of a mock blitz. (The defenders can't tackle Feeley, but if they arrive before he lets go of the ball, the play is blown dead.)
The only other news was a Donovan McNabb NovaCare sighting, which wasn't too shocking, since he plays for the Eagles and all. McNabb presumably will take the field with the rest of the team Tuesday. No word on whether he plans to speak or blog or scratch messages in the turf during the OTA.
