Reid: Asante Should Be OK
Andy Reid was relaxed and reasonably jolly in his day-after news conference, with the Eagles still alive in the NFC East race heading into Saturday's game at Dallas.
Reid said he thinks corner Asante Samuel will be able to play with his hamstring pull, suffered in Sunday's 45-19 victory over the Jets.
Reid said he is "a huge Jets fan this week," with the Eagles needing the Jets to beat the Giants to keep the Eagles alive.
Obviously, the Birds' strong defensive efforts the past two weeks have stirred discussion of whether offensive line coach-turned defensive coordinator Juan Castillo might be able to keep his job. Reid was given an opportunity to make a strong statement in support of Castillo, but characteristically, he downplayed the situation.
Reid complimented the way he feels Castillo's unit has continued to improve and said: "You guys know how I feel about Juan."
He also said Castillo is "not afraid to fix a problem," and has the trust of his players.
Reid said LeSean McCoy is working "to put himself as one of the elite, elite guys ... He's on pace to do that."
