Eagles coach Andy Reid paused as he left the field following another sunny, very warm OTA day at NovaCare to update reporters on the team's injury status -- particularly left guard Todd Herremans, who sought a second opinion from foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte Thursday.
"Todd Herremans, he did go down to the specialist, had his foot checked out. It's not the doctor who did his surgery (Steven Raikin), however it is the first doctor he saw (when Herremans injured his foot and was contemplating surgery last August). He checked it out, there's no problems, he's fine to practice," Reid said. "He's got a little pain in the arch, and we've got to get that settled down. His pain (last year) was on top of his foot, this is on the bottom and it's more muscular than anything else.
"We'll just see how he does here. There's a chance he misses next week, but he'll be back and ready for training camp if he does."
Reid said running back LeSean McCoy (ankle) "is doing all right," and middle linebacker Stewart Bradley (calf) "has a cramp in his calf," as Bradley indicated Thursday.
Reid said McCoy and Bradley might or might not participate in the final four days of OTAs next week, depending on how they feel.
Defensive coordinator Sean McDermott confirmed what has been obvious since Marlin Jackson went down with a ruptured Achilles' on Tuesday -- second round rookie Nate Allen is the starting free safety "as it is right now.'
Fourth-round rookie corner Trevard Lindley fought off the receiver and made a nice interception of a Michael Vick bomb in the end zone
"He's a talented young player," McDermott said of Lindley, who is 5-11, 185. "He's got a long way to go, and he's a hard worker. That's what you look for. He's got speed and he's got size. At the corner position, long arms and length go a long way. Very smooth athlete, and those are the things you can't teach.
McDermott has been using third-round rookie defensive end Dainel T'eo-Nesheim inside as a pass-rushing tackle this week; McDermott needs a new candidate for the role Darren Howard has played the past few seasons.
