For this edition we venture into the home of Mike and Nicole Batchelor to see how they design their home in Lafayette Hill.
For this edition we venture into the home of Mike and Nicole Batchelor to see how they design their home in Lafayette Hill, Pa. Below we asked them to introduce themselves, their family and their home:
"This is our home: there's four of us here (Mom, Dad, and two boys), along with 3 cats, a dog, and a cockatiel (and some fish). We live in our space and use every bit of it.
Maybe what's a little different about our home is that we routinely have new people here to participate in the creation of content for our music and art blog, in addition to having musicians come to make recordings/videos.
We do our our best to live simply. In the words of William Morris: 'Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.' With that in mind, we enjoy discovering new ways to work with and within our space.
Similarly, our home is always evolving: it's very interesting to see these photos, because even though it's only been a week, our space has changed as we prepare to welcome spring.
It should be mentioned that ours is one of six apartments in this historical home. The main section of the home was built around 1736, and was doubled in size in 1812. There are also two later additions that seem to be from about the 1920s. It's a wonderful experience living in a place with history!"
