Cole fined $7,500 for Okung flip

Trent Cole said that he was fined $7,500 for his take down of Russell Okung, which tore the Seattle tackle's triceps and ended his season.

The Eagles defensive end said that he intended to appeal the fine.

"I'm not a dirty player," Cole said Wednesday. "At the time, all the stuff that led up to that, there was a lot of stuff that happened in that game. ... Watch that game closely and key on Okung and key on me and you'll see what I'm talking about."

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll called Cole's flip of Okung "out of line" last week and asked the NFL to look into the matter. On the play, which occurred near the end of the game, Okung blocked Cole for several seconds before Cole flipped him over his back WWF-style.

"He got grabbed under the arm and thrown down to the ground. It had nothing to do with the play. It wasn't a late hit," Carroll said. "It might look like he was trying to disengage and that might be what they say and all, but it was really late and it was really out of line unfortunately."

"I heard his comments," Cole said of Carroll. "You all seen what happened. The guy was on my back after the whistle. He was holding me the whole game. If you look at that play he had me hooked. I'm running to the ball and he had me hooked."

Okung went after Cole after he was tossed to the ground and had to be restrained. Cole said that he was being compared to Detroit defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who was recently suspended two games for stepping on a player and who has been labeled by some to be a dirty player.

"They try to compare me to Suh up there," Cole said. "You can't compare me to that. I was in a situation."
