Jeremy Maclin sustains torn ACL in right knee

Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin tore the ACL in his right knee.  The injury typically requires season-ending surgery, costing the 25-year-old receiver the year.

Maclin fell to the ground during a non-contact drill in Saturday's practice. He was carted off the field.

The Eagles are now missing a starting receiver two practices into the season. Riley Cooper took the first-team snaps in Maclin's place.

The injury is especially devastating because Maclin, who was entering the final year of his contract, was expecting the best season of his career. A former first-round pick who has been a four-year starter with the Eagles, Maclin has been a consistent contributor but never exceeded 1,000 yards in a season.

He said this summer that he was not in a rush to pursue a contract extension because he "can only get better." When he reported to camp this week, he said he was "aware" of the salaries that other wide receivers in the NFL had received.
