Maclin 'aware' of contracts other WRs have been getting

Asked if he had been paying attention to some of the contracts that other wide receivers around the NFL were receiving, Jeremy Maclin said, "I'm aware," and then smiled.

Maclin is entering the final year of the five-year deal he signed as a rookie. And while some think that he isn't worth a mega-contract, the 25-year-old receiver is in line for a raise whether the Eagles extend his deal or he reaches free agency next March.

"I'm excited. Like I said earlier, I'm not going to get caught up in all that," Maclin said. "I'm aware of everything that happens around me, but I'm excited to go out there and prove what I'm worth."

Maclin has yet to have a 1,000-yard receiving season. He improved upon his numbers in his first two seasons, but has regressed in the last two. Injuries have played a part in that dip.

Maclin, who reported to camp wearing a gray shirt with bold letters that said, "I'm That Dude," said there hadn't been any conversations about an extension. (He wore an orange shirt that read, "Damn, I'm Good" last year.)

On Wednesday, Buccaneers receiver Mike Williams inked a six-year extension worth $40.25 million with $15 million guaranteed. Williams, who also has yet to eclipse a 1,000 yards in his career, and Maclin have similar numbers over their careers.

Two years ago, teammate DeSean Jackson held out from camp, missing the first 11 days in the hopes that the Eagles would re-negoitiate his contract. They did not. The Eagles wide receiver eventually signed a new five-year, $47 million contract in March 2012.

Asked why he didn't hold out, like some other players in similar situations have in the past, Maclin said, "How many of those guys got what they wanted? So that's how I look at it."
