Philadelphia ranked 4th most walkable city in the country

We always knew there was wisdom in living somewhere within a few blocks' stroll of coffee shops, restaurants, theaters and parks. Walk Score, which is owned by real estate behemoth Redfin and whose data is included on many home listings, operates on a similar belief: that living near places you actually enjoy going (and spending less time on your commute, too) makes you happier.

The company released its list of most walkable cities in the country last week, and Philadelphia came in with a walk score of 78.3, making it fourth in the country behind Boston (80.1), San Francisco (85.7) and New York (88.9).

And since it's not always about walking a few blocks to the grocery store – sometimes it's about getting the bus home with your bags – the company also computes transit and bike scores, too. You can check out the scores at your address via Redfin and be surprised.
