Lineup du jour: Rollins at DH, Ruiz at cleanup, Nix at shortstop
I appreciate the fact that Ryne Sandberg doesn't seem to give a hoot about the consistency of where a player bats in the lineup. I wouldn't have a low OBP guy like Ben Revere leading off, but what do I know. Last night, Carlos Ruiz batted second. Tonight, he's batting fourth. Jimmy Rollins is in the lineup after a two-day absence with some groin pain, but he isn't playing the field. He is the designated hitter. The Phillies are in an AL ballpark facing veteran lefty Mark Buehrle and the Blue Jays.
Interestingly, Freddy Galvis is not in the lineup at shortstop. He's been replaced by Jayson Nix. Galvis had a rough go of it last night, making a baserunning mistake that turned a fielder's choice into a double play while also failing to get his third hit of the season. The ball tends to find a guy like Nix in a situation like this, so keep an eye on him. Galvis is the superior defender and Nix hasn't exactly been Joe DiMaggio lately.
The lineup:
Ben Revere CF
Jimmy Rollins DH
Chase Utey 2B
Carlos Ruiz C
Marlon Byrd RF
Dom Brown LF
John Mayberry 1B
Cody Asche 3B
Jayson Nix SS
