Myers has surgery, to begin rehab Saturday

Phillies pitcher Brett Myers had successful hip surgery today in New York, the Phillies said in a statement. The surgery was performed by Dr. Bryan Kelly.

"Myers had arthroscopic bony spur and labral debridement," the statement said. Debridement is becoming a familiar term in Philly sports with it being used to describe the procedure that Eagles running back Brian Westbrook will undergo on his right ankle tomorrow in Baltimore.

The Phillies said Myers will start a rehabilitation program Saturday and is expected to begin a long toss program in approximately three months.
