Sandberg silent on Rollins' rest

As of Wednesday morning, when the lineup was posted in the clubhouse, Jimmy Rollins isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game in Clearwater against the New York Yankees. It would be the third straight day Rollins is out of the starting lineup.

Rollins said he was healthy when he arrived to Bright House Field on Wednesday. He hit in the indoor cages and ran along the outfield track afterward.

"No one has told me (anything about his health)," general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "He might be a little weak from his flu. Ryno's making out the lineup."

So, Ryno?

"He's fine," manager Ryne Sandberg said following the Phillies 6-5 win over the Orioles.

Rollins was also held out of three straight games from March 2-4. He was scratched from a start on March 4 with flu-like symptoms.

Rollins is hitting .133 (2-for-15) with a home run, three RBI, four walks and three strikeouts in seven games. He's hitless in his last 12 at-bats.

Rollins had originally been in Tuesday's lineup - when it was posted Monday afternoon - but Freddy Galvis's name was in his place when the team arrived to Lake Buena Vista.

Galvis started in his Rollins' place again on Wednesday. Sandberg was asked if Galvis could compete with Rollins for playing time in 2014.

"Freddy's a guy that will get playing time at various positions," Sandberg said. "He's a guy that I like in the lineup. I feel good about what he brings to the table. The biggest thing, I like his energy and his positive influence that he sets out there. He's a positive influence on everybody around him."

And what have you thought about Jimmy in that regard this spring?

"Uh, no comment," Sandberg said.
