Schneider to DL

The new, if perhaps temporary, backup catcher for the Phillies is Paul Hoover, whose contract was selected from the Triple A Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs after Brian Schneider was placed on the 15-day disabled list today with a strained left Achilles tendon.

"For the team's sake and for Brian's sake, you don't ever want to see somebody get hurt," Hoover said. "But at the same time, it's baseball. Stuff like this happens. Hopefully, if and when I get a chance, I can help this team win some games."
