Eyre on DL, Kendrick recalled UPDATED

The Phillies have placed Scott Eyre on the 15-day disabled list with a left calf strain, and recalled RHP Kyle Kendrick from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

UPDATE: A lot of you had the same reaction as me when you learned that the Phils were replacing a situational lefty with a righty starter: wha? According to our Ray Parrillo, who is at the ballpark tonight, Charlie Manuel said Kendrick will be useful as a long man in these upcoming series against A.L. teams (Bastardo against Boston? If I were a fantasy owner, now is when I'd sell high).  Jack Taschner will assume most of Eyre's duties.
